Apple Sausage Cornbread Stuffing
Thanksgiving is this week! And this is the perfect recipe for delicious stuffing that will make your holiday perfect!

Makes 8  to 10 servings

INGREDIENTS:
2 pkgs (8.5 oz size) dry corn muffin mix
lb sausage
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
½ lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 cup chopped onion
1
cup chopped celery
2  
cloves garlic, chopped

DIRECTIONS:

1.  Prepare corn muffin mix according to package directions. Cool and Crumble.
2. Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC)
3. Toast walnut pieces on baking pan in oven while it is preheating, stirring once.
4. Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Separate into small chunks and cook over

medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
5. In a large skillet over medium heat, slowly cook and stir the mushrooms, celery,

onion, and garlic until soft.

In a large bowl, mix the crumbled prepared corn muffin mix, sausage, mushroom
  mixture, apple, bread, walnuts, salt, and pepper.

Transfer the mixture to a medium baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 
  45 minutes, or until lightly browned.
