Apple Sausage Cornbread Stuffing
Thanksgiving is this week! And this is the perfect recipe for delicious stuffing that will make your holiday perfect! Makes 8 to 10 servings Recipe CD Kitchen |
| 2 | pkgs (8.5 oz size) dry corn muffin mix |
| 1 | lb sausage |
| 1 | Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and chopped |
| ½ | lb fresh mushrooms, sliced |
| 1 | cup chopped onion |
| 1 |
cup chopped celery |
| 2 |
cloves garlic, chopped |
| 1. | Prepare corn muffin mix according to package directions. Cool and Crumble. |
| 2. | Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC) |
| 3. | Toast walnut pieces on baking pan in oven while it is preheating, stirring once. |
| 4. | Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Separate into small chunks and cook over |

medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside. |
| 5. | In a large skillet over medium heat, slowly cook and stir the mushrooms, celery, |

onion, and garlic until soft. |

In a large bowl, mix the crumbled prepared corn muffin mix, sausage, mushroom |
| mixture, apple, bread, walnuts, salt, and pepper. |

Transfer the mixture to a medium baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven |
| 45 minutes, or until lightly browned. |
